The location of the family quarters, not the sponsor's place of duty or work, determines which school children attend and their eligibility for transportation. Students enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten and children with disabilities under an Individual Education Program (IEP) may receive specialized transportation services tailored to each child's special needs, based on age and/or IEP requirements.
Both the authority and the responsibility for school bus transportation belong to the Baumholder Student Transportation Office (STO), which is located in Building 8801, Room 14 on the Baumholder Middle/High School campus. Inquiries about school bus passes, bus routes, delays in students’ arrival home after school, complaints or concerns about bus misconduct should be directed to: 06783-3054.
Riding the school bus is a privilege and not a right. The safety of all students, monitors, and bus driver is of the utmost importance. Students granted bus-riding privileges will be issued a bus pass in order to ride the bus. Students are responsible for complying with established school bus behavior standards and for conducting themselves in a safe and proper manner.
Steps to Register for the School Bus
- Register your child(ren) in school
- Obtain a copy of DS Form 600 (Student Registration)
- Go to the School Bus Office. Only one parent needs to be present. There they will receive a bus pass, information on the route(s), bus stops, schedule, bus safety, behavior standards and discipline rules. If registering during a school break, these items may be mailed to the parent later.
